2018 has already been a huge year for Simon Pegg: he’s acted for Steven Spielberg in Ready Player One, he’s about to help save the world in Mission: Impossible — Fallout, and he’s taken on a meaty role in the upcoming neo-noir Terminal. Towards the end of the year, he’s about to take on a whole new challenge: stepping behind the camera.

In this month’s Empire Interview, the British actor and writer confirmed his plans to shoot a film. “My directorial debut […] will hopefully be shooting by the end of this year,” he said, elaborating: “[Nira Park] sent me a script last year and said, ‘This might be your first film.’ I read it and said, ‘I think you might be right.’ Sure enough, that’s what we’re gearing up to do in November.” Asked what the film is going to be, he deadpanned: “It’s a porno.” We think he was joking.

Pegg has previously co-written the likes of Star Trek: Beyond, Paul and Run, Fatboy, Run, as well as the Cornetto Trilogy, and received executive producer credits on The World’s End, A Fantastic Fear of Everything, and Man Up.

Read the full confessional interview with Pegg — talking through his career and getting candid about his private personal struggles — in the new Empire, which hits shelves next week.
