It would appear that the scripts written for 20th Century Fox’s latest attempt to bring Marvel’s Fantastic Four to the screen have not been sufficiently fantastic thus far. The studio is now bringing in comic book movie veteran Simon Kinberg to take a crack{
Chronicle director Josh Trank is still firmly attached to direct the film, which boasts Matthew Vaughn as producer. But on the writing front, things have been a little shakier, with such writers as Jeremy Slater, Michael Green, Seth Grahame-Smith and, most recently, T.S. Nowlin all having run it through their word processors.
According to the Hollywood Reporter’s sources, Kinberg – who recently wrote X-Men: Days Of Future Past for the studio – is coming in to do what could amount to an overhaul on the latest draft, as well as stepping in to produce alongside Vaughn.
With the screenplay still in flux, there’s been no official word on casting for the film, which will reboot the squabbling superhero family of Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic), Sue Storm (Invisible Girl), Johnny Storm (Human Torch) and Ben Grimm (The Thing). The likes of** Chronicle**’s Michael B. Jordan have been touted for roles, but expect all that to stay in the realm of rumour until the script is a little further along.
Fox wants the film in cinemas for 2015, so Kinberg will be cracking on to allow Trank the time he needs to get the film made. It's hardly his only assignment, though; the writer-producer is also involved in the planned Star Wars spin-off films...
