Whether you know him from his Popworld and Never Mind The Buzzcocks presenting heyday, his stand-up comedy shows, or sitcom Grandma’s House, Simon Amstell is a man of many talents – and his feature film debut is releasing in UK cinemas this March.
Following Carnage, his near-feature-length iPlayer mock-doc film set in a largely-vegan future, Amstell writes and directs Benjamin, which casts Merlin and Humans star Colin Morgan (here using his own Irish accent) as a young filmmaker in a period of emotional vulnerability and isolation. In the run-up to debuting his second film, Benjamin meets French singer Noah, and they begin to fall for each other. It looks like a tender and dryly funny comedy-drama, as you can see in the first trailer:
Benjamin also stars the likes of Joel Fry and Anna Chancellor, with French actor Phénix Brossard as Noah. Following its premiere at the LFF 2018 in October, the film will arrive in UK cinemas on 15 March.
