Following Warner Bros.'s flirtation with Steven Spielberg, Clint Eastwood signed on last year to handle tragic true-life story American Sniper, which features Bradley Cooper in the lead. It would appear he has narrowed down a lead actress, with Sienna Miller in talks.
According to The Wrap, the choice came down to between Miller and Thor’s Jaimie Alexander, while Kate Mara and Evangeline Lilly had both been considered before other jobs took them out of the running.
Jason Hall has adapted Navy SEAL Chris Kyle’s book, subtitled The Autobiography Of The Most Lethal Sniper In US Military, which recorded Kyle’s career as a Texas-born shooter who notched the highest number of recorded kills for an American. But his dedication to his sights and his SEAL mates has an impact on his relationship with his wife (Miller). And in a tragic twist, Kyle was killed at a shooting range by the traumatised fellow veteran he and a friend were helping post-military service.
Eastwood is preparing to set the cameras rolling next month. Miller, last seen in indie movies A Case Of You and Two Jacks, has Bennett Miller’s Foxcatcher, Beeban Kidron’s Hippie Hippie Shake and Ken Scott’s Business Or Pleasure (AKA Business Trip), which sees her starring with Vince Vaughn and Nick Frost, all due this year.
