Every year around this time, the US Library of Congress announces the 25 films that it has deemed – from a much larger list of nominees – worthy of being inducted into its National Film Registry, the selected titles added to a preserved collection. Among this year's list are the likes of The Dark Knight, The Hurt Locker, Shrek and Grease.
The movies are selected because of their cultural, historic or aesthetic importance to America's film heritage, and this year's selections also includes the likes of 1927's The Battle Of The Century, cult comedy The Blues Brothers, 1999's Buena Vista Social Club and A Clockwork Orange.
This is not only a great honor for all of us who worked on The Dark Knight, this is also a tribute to all of the amazing artists and writers who have worked on the great mythology of Batman over the decades," says Christopher Nolan.
