Erotobots, assemble! Shia LaBeouf is in talks to appear in Lars Von Trier's Nymphomaniac, which would make a new departure for the actor, assuming he signs up.The film already stars Charlotte Gainsbourg, Stellan Skarsgard, Willem Dafoe and reportedly Nicole Kidman to boot.

Not that LaBeouf has been shying away from interesting indie projects of late. We'll soon be seeing him as a 1930s moonshine runner in John Hillcoat's Lawless, and is coming up alongside Robert Redford in The Company You Keep. He's set to work with Hillcoat again on Triple Nin****e, and also dabbled in crime in The Necessary Death Of Charlie Countryman.

Nymphomania, meanwhile, will involve a woman called Joe (Gainsbourg) recounting her sexual history to an older man, Seligman (Skarsgard). According to the official synopsis, "On a cold winter’s evening the old, charming bachelor, Seligman, finds Joe beaten up in an alleyway. He brings her home to his flat where he tends to her wounds while asking her about her life. He listens intently as Joe over the next 8 chapters recounts the lushly branched-out and multi faceted story of her life, rich in associations and interjecting incidents."

**Nymphomaniac **is due to start production next September, and we'd expect to see it late in 2013, assuming it's not too shocking for a cinema release.
