After premiering, competing – and winning two prizes at – this year's Cannes Film Festival, Andrea Arnold's latest film, American Honey, is ready to launch itself upon the wider world. The first trailer for the drama is now online, and you can watch it below.

In the tradition of Arnold finding exciting new talent for her films (think Fish Tank's Katie Jarvis or some of the cast of Wuthering Heights), the fresh face here is Sasha Lane, who plays Star, a young woman looking to escape her troubled, unfulfilling life. She falls in with a group of misfits (including Shia LaBeouf's Jake and Riley Keough's Krystal) who travel across the US selling magazines, getting into trouble and generally living life to its fullest. On the road, she discovers romance and danger, but are her new friends a chance to cut loose or leading her down a dodgy path?

This marks Arnold's first time filming in the US, but she retains her keen eye for coming of age stories that feel authentic. There's no sign of an official release date for this one just yet, but we'd expect it to arrive around awards time.
