Sheldon Turner, the **Up In The Air **screenwriter, has lined up his directorial debut, due to start shooting this autumn. Since The Hurt Locker's Nicholas Chartier is producing, we like to think that this whole film was cooked up backstage during awards season.
The story is that of a man betrayed and framed by his mentor and sent to prison (we're guessing he wasn't a mentor in crochet or bridge or something). On release, he is determined to get revenge on his old partner - not entirely surprisingly - but since the latter has gone clean and started a new life, he's not so keen on the idea.
Turner told Variety that he's hoping to get "two great actors" for the key roles, but with a budget of about $20 million for the whole thing, don't expect big names. Shooting is due to start in September, giving Turner plenty of time to get ready but also to watch as the bajillion other scripts he's sold recently make their way slowly through development as well.
