Since breaking out with District 9, Sharlto Copley has become a man in demand, though he hasn’t jumped on every film that was proferred in his direction. So far, he’s followed up with this year’s The A-Team, but he might be about to go back to science fiction for a part in I Am Number Four.

The Heat Vision Blog reports that Copley is in talks to snatch a leading role in the adaptation of the young-adult science fiction tome by James Frey and Jobie Hughes.

We've already told you that Alex Pettyfer won the lead role of Four, one of nine aliens who escape from their home world and must hide on Earth disguised as humans when their enemies come looking for them. If he signs, Copley will play a former servant of Four who on Earth is his adult mentor and protector.

Sadly, fookin’ prawns are not likely to be on the menu.

DJ Caruso is directing the pic for DreamWorks, and if you’re looking to swot up on the book before the film arrives, you’ll have to wait. It doesn’t hit the shops until the autumn…
