As if getting mixed up with murder on Big Little Lies wasn't enough for Shailene Woodley, she's set to tangle with a serial killer for a new movie. Woodley is on to star in Misanthrope.
Wild Tales director Damián Szifron will work on this one, based on the script he wrote with Jonathan Wakeman. The story follows a talented yet troubled cop (there rarely seem to be other kinds in movies like this) who is recruited by the FBI to help profile and track down a serial killer.
"Screenplays like Misanthrope, that are this well executed both in theme and tone, are rare to come by with a director like Damian behind the wheel," Woodley tells Variety. "I have complete trust we will create something that will have a profound impact on cinema and will resonate with audiences, especially given the times we are living in right now. I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of this team."
The cameras should be rolling in Atlanta later this year. As for Woodley, Big Little Lies returns to HBO and on Sky Atlantic over here on 9 June. She's also worked on Drake Doremus' latest indie drama called No No No, Yes, which we want to be the biopic everyone has been clamoring for about Jim from The Vicar Of Dibley.
