There's some good news if you've been following the progress of Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement's attempt to turn 2014 vampire mockumentary What We Do In The Shadows into a TV series... The show has now secured a 10-episode first season order from American network FX.

The series, which will be set in the present day, but switches the locale to the US, follows the basic idea of the film through the eyes of new characters. Three vampires who share a flat have been living together for centuries but must grapple with the most mundane annoyances of 21st century life, even though they're undead. There is still rent to be paid, dates to be found and roommate rules to be observed.

Kayvan Novak, Matt Berry, Natasia Demetriou and Harvey Guillen are in the main cast, with Doug Jones, Beanie Feldstein, Jake McDorman and Mark Proksch all in recurring roles. Waititi and Clement will be executive producers, with Waititi having shot the pilot and likely to direct more episodes, and Clement writing scripts. The show should be on the air next year.
