While throwing himself into Oscar hosting preparation, notable multi-tasker Seth MacFarlane is devoting some of his leftover energy to setting up his next film, comedy Western A Million Ways To Die In The West. The latest lady he wants to lasso for the cast? Amanda Seyfried.

MacFarlane already has Charlize Theron aboard for the film, which he has co-written, and will direct and star in.

A Million Ways To Die In The West follows a luckless, sheepish farmer (MacFarlane) who chickens out when a gunfight erupts on his property. Annoyed at his singular lack of spine, his girlfriend (Seyfried, if she signs on) ditches him.

In an attempt to win her back, he makes a deal with the wife (Theron) of a notorious outlaw, to get shooting lessons and try to win the girlfriend back. But that causes trouble when he starts getting closer to the sharp-shooting woman, particularly when her husband reappears.

Since MacFarlane wrote the script with Ted cohorts Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild, expect this one to be more Blazing Saddles than Unforgiven. The cameras should be cranking in May.

Seyfried, currently on screen in Les Miserables, will next show up in The Big Wedding (May 31) and is a voice in Blue Sky’s new ‘toon Epic (May 24).
