The cast of Marvel's Inhumans literally seems to be growing day by day. Yesterday it was Anson Mount as Black Bolt, and today it's actress Serinda Swan, who has been cast in the role of Medusa.
Bride of Black Bolt, Medusa is the Inhuman with the hair — the long red lockes that she can manipulate in any way that she cares to, including as a deadly weapon. Offers executive producer/showrunner Scott Buck, "Serinda Swan brings a regal elegance, as well as a sense of great inner strength and fierce determination to the role of Medusa. I couldn’t be happier to have her as our Queen of Attilan."
For the actress, Medusa is the latest in a line of characters that have, as Cliche magazine puts it, given her the opportunity to play "strong and ballsy". The role that first gained her some recognition was the magical Zatanna Zatara on two episodes of Smallville, which has led to such shows as Graceland and Ballers. When asked by the magazine why she's drawn to such parts, she commented, "I'm not exactly sure. I think it has to do with my background in gymnastics and also my personality in life. That's probably why I gravitate towards those roles, but I'm not sure. For some reason, I keep playing murderers and characters with strange supernatural powers, so maybe I should look into that."
Marvel's head of television and executive producer of the series, Jeph Loeb, says, "Serinda empowers Medusa’s regal glory and still maintains a relatability that synced perfectly with the character. She is nothing short of wonderful.”
Besides Mount as Black Bolt, Iwan Rheon (Game Of Thrones) has been cast in the role of Maximus. The two-hour premiere of the show will debut in IMAX cinemas this September and play for about two weeks before the series makes its debut.
