The young adult juggernaut continues to careen through our multiplexes. With The Hunger Games and Divergent doing excellent business, and the likes of Fallen and Daughter Of Smoke And Bone on the way, Sony have taken a punt on the yet-to-be-published Seeker by Arwen Elys Dayton{ =nofollow}. Mark Gordon (Source Code) is producing, and Callie Kloves has been tapped to write the screenplay.

Since it has yet to see the light of day, the only information we have about Seeker thus far comes from the marketing blurb. That gives us the story of Quin Kincaid, a young girl who's spent her childhood in a brutal training regime to become one of the prestigious Seekers of the title.

The seeking itself seems to be something to do with rare artefacts and arcane knowledge, but Quin learns too late that her punishing studies have been more than just academic. Somehow she's to use her hard-won new qualification to become an assassin. The globe-trotting narrative takes in Scotland and Hong Kong as Quin tries to flee her destiny.

Hannah Minghella (Goosebumps) is among Gordon's producing colleagues for the studio, and Seeker marks Kloves' second high-profile screenplay gig of recent months. She's also behind Andy Serkis' Jungle Book.

Seeker is, of course, the first instalment of a trilogy, so franchise ahoy! The novel is set for publication by Random House sometime next year.
