UPDATE Last week Luc Besson shared a first look at his latest highly ambitious sci-fi, Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets, and hot on its heels are more pictures from the movie. Here's Cara Delevingne and Dane DeHaan in action as Laureline and Valerian. Oh, and a first look at the Cylon-like (presumably) bad guys.
Luc Besson has been busy of late shooting his ambitious new sci-fi adventure Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets. Now he's taken to Facebook to debut the first picture of stars Cara Delevingne and Dane DeHaan in costume.
Besson is also seen posing with his leading duo, who look a little like they're about to clamber into the head of a Jaeger and fight some Kaiju. But in reality, they're playing Valerian (DeHaan) and Laureline (Delevingne), special operatives for the human territories who are part of the force maintaining order in the galaxy. They're dispatched by Commander Filitt (Clive Owen) to head to the enormous city of Alpha, a sprawling, ever-evolving city that is home to thousands of species from all parts of the universe. And though it seems to be a peaceful utopia working for the good of all its inhabitants, dark forces are lurking under the surface, and the entire human race might be in danger.
With Ethan Hawke, Rutger Hauer, Rihanna, Herbie Hancock and John Goodman (his voice, at least) also aboard, Valerian, which Besson adapted from Pierre Christin and Jean-Claude Mézières' beloved comic book series, promises to be his priciest film yet. We'll see how it all turned out when the movie arrives on July 21, 2017.
