“You don’t need to be scared.” So says one of the characters in The Secret of Marrowbone trailer — but after seeing the teaser you may feel a little differently. We’ve got an exclusive look at the film, which comes from The Orphanage and The Impossible writer Sergio G. Sánchez, this time also stepping behind the camera. If you’ve seen the former, you’ll be in with an idea of the scares this guy can conjure up with a mere bit of sackcloth. That film’s director J.A Bayona (currently cooking up Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom), is on board as producer too.
Sánchez has assembled a top-notch cast, including contemporary scream queen Anya Taylor-Joy, Stranger Things’ beady-eyed Charlie Heaton, George Mackay, and A Cure for Wellness star Mia Goth. The four of them are siblings who seek refuge in a creaky old house after the death of their mother. Of course, they’re not alone in the house and spooky goings-on are close at hand.
As well as the trailer we’ve got an exclusive look at the poster, which certainly brings The Orphanage and the work of Guillermo Del Toro to mind.
We’ll get to learn what exactly the secret of The Secret of Marrowbone is when the film arrives in UK cinemas on Friday 13 July. How fitting.
