It's yet to open in this country, but the phenomenal US box office success of Charlie's Angels - it's only been out two weeks and has already taken over $75 million - means that there are already rumours of a planned sequel. Variety reports that Columbia is planning to make a million dollar plus offer to screenwriter John August, and that the studio has already been in discussions with the producers of the first film, including star Drew Barrymore. They are also trying to lure back director McG (real name Joseph McGinty Nichol). But Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu only signed for one film, so could command astronomic fees to return. Given the stories about tensions on set, they might need some heavy financial persuading to do it all again. Charlie's Angels opens on Friday 24 November.
