20th Century Fox already has a director for new John McClane outing A Good Day To Die Hard, with John Moore busy getting set to shoot. It also already has an actor to play McClane Jr, since Jai Courtney was cast last month. And, of course, it has Bruce Willis back as John, because he comes as part of the package. But what the studio didn’t have was a new villain. Now it might well have two, with Sebastian Koch and Yulia Snigir jumping aboard.
While there’s still a little cloudiness on the exact level of their villainy, Variety reports that Koch and Snigir are playing characters named Komorov and Irina and appear set to try to follow in the footsteps of Hans Gruber, Colonel Stuart, Simon Gruber and Thomas Gabriel.
The film finds McClane forced to team up with his estranged son Jack in Moscow to stop an evil plot that will put the entire world at risk. We can only hope the threat is a little more compelling than Gabriel’s cyber-hackery.
German thesp Koch is probably best known for The Lives Of Others and Black Book, while Snigir will make her international debut after appearing in several Russian films.
Skip Woods has provided the script and Moore is in pre-production, aiming for a February 14, 2013 release date. Because nothing says Valentine's Day like John McClane shooting things.
