Given what happened to him as Eddard Stark in Game of Thrones (spoiler alert: it does not go well!) Sean Bean might well be forgiven for steering clearly of roles where he’s powerful and yet in danger. Still, that isn’t stopping him from signing on to play Snow White’s father in Tarsem Singh’s take on the tale.
The film, which had been going under the title The Brothers Grimm: Snow White but now appears to be nameless, is currently filming in Montreal.
Julia Roberts is playing the evil queen who marries Bean and, unless they’re changing thing around considerably, doesn’t exactly treat her hubby well. Still, she’s more annoyed by Snow herself (Lily Collins) who she sees as a rival for the title of Fairest Of Them All. When Armie Hammer’s hunky Prince Alcott enters the picture, the queen decides that Snow has simply got to go, and orders her taken out and killed. But the girl survives with the help of seven dwarves, and looks to reclaim her kingdom.
Also in the cast are the likes of Nathan Lane, Mare Winningham, Danny Woodburn, Jordan Prentice and Martin Klebba.
This version of the tale should arrive in cinemas sometime next year, though there’s no official release date set for the UK yet. And it’ll face tough competition from Snow White and the Huntsman…
