Horse racing is clearly back in a big way. Disney has Secretariat in the starting gate for release; Michael Mann is producing a star-laden drama for HBO about the sport and now Sean Astin is starring in an indie comedy called And They’re Off.
Astin has singed on to play a failed horse trainer who wants to get back in the game. The likes of Cheri Oteri, Martin Mull, Kevin Nealon and Mo Collins are all in the cast, along with real-life racing types.
TV directing veteran Rob Schiller is behind the camera for this one, which starts filming this week in LA.
