Word on the theatrical circuit that the next American star to make a West End appearance would be Gillian Anderson, turns out to be grounded in truth after all. Anderson will be appearing in What The Night Is For when it opens in London's Theatreland this November, reports Whatsonstage.com today. And that's all we know for now, with no venue, dates or co-stars announced. The X-Files star, who last worked in Britain when she filmed her acclaimed film performance in Terence Davies' The House of Mirth on location in Glasgow, will play a woman whose adultery makes her question the validity of her marriage. Unlike most of the American actors who cross the pond in search of validation and publicity by appearing in British plays, Anderson actually trained as a stage actress which should make this play more of a must-see. The plays's producer told press; 'We are thrilled that Gillian has chosen to appear in What the Night Is For. She is an actor of real emotional honesty, which should make this a really electrifying evening in the theatre.'
