While A Star Is Born looked to be the favourite going into this year's Screen Actors Guild awards, ceremony actually followed more in the pattern of the Golden Globes, as major trophies went to the likes of Glenn Close, Rami Malek and Emily Blunt.
Blunt was perhaps more of a surprise – if only because her role in A Quiet Place seemed to be more of a lead than a supporting part – but there's no denying the quality of the performance. We weren't perhaps predicting that the actors' branch would reward Black Panther to such a degree (it also scored a stunt award), but that cast certainly deserved it.
Elsewhere, there were some repeat winners such as Green Book's Mahershala Ali, Malek and Close.
