Given the success of this year's Scream legacy sequel/rebootquel, another movie was surely a given, and, indeed, was announced shortly after the "first" film - or the fifth in the Scream franchise, to be accurate began making money. Now we know that young stars Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding and Jenna Ortega are all back for more self-referential horror.

Directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, part of the filmmaking collective known as Radio Silence, are returning behind the camera along with writers James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick.

The story – beyond the obvious idea of more slayings and a few phone calls – apparently "continues with the four survivors of the Ghostface killings as they leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter."

So now you know. Unknown at this time? Whether the legacy likes of Neve Campbell or Courteney Cox will also once more come back – but never say never. Shooting (and stabbing) is due to kick off this summer, with the new movie targeting a March 2023 release.
