Act Of Valour co-director Scott Waugh clearly loves speed and vehicles - which is perhaps not all that shocking for a stunt man-turned-megaphone-wielder. Valour was full of jeeps, choppers and people moving fast; he already has a Fast & Furious-style project called High Speed gunning its engine in the development garage, and now DreamWorks has offered him the keys to the Need For Speed adaptation.
The company dipped into its freshly acquired funds last month to buy the rights to EA’s long running game franchise and has set Real Steel writer John Gatins the task of turning it into a movie alongside co-writer / brother George.
Little is known about the plot, though given that the most recent edition of the game, The Run, features actual characters involved in a cross-country race, chances are that’ll have some impact.
Right now it’s still just at the offer stage; Waugh is a busy man, getting set to co-direct Arnold Schwarzenegger action project** Unknown Soldier** this summer with Valour comrade Mike McCoy and other projects on the boil. And no deal has been thrashed out yet, so he may not even end up in the driving seat.
