Scott Hicks, who most recently directed Clive Owen in The Boys Are Back, is in talks to take the reins on The Lucky One, another film adaptation of a Nicholas Sparks novel. That sound you hear is hundreds of women all sighing contendedly in unison at the news.

Sparks is, of course, the weepie powerhouse behind The Notebook and Dear John. And this novel, which has been adapted by Remember Me's Will Fetters, tells the story of a Marine who survives three tours in Iraq and attributes his good luck to a photo he carries of a woman he's never met. Once released from the service and home in North Carolina (it's always North Carolina in Sparks novels), he sets off in search of her.

There's no word on start dates or casting yet, but feel free to make your suggestions below. Given that Channing Tatum already played a soldier looking for love in Sparks-world's Dear John, however, you're not allowed to suggest him. Or Ryan Gosling, Notebook fans.
