Word on True Detective's third season is still continuing to be positive, especially in light of the less-than-impressive second run. Those hired for the new season have included Mahershala Ali, Carmen Ejogo and Stephen Dorff, and the cavalcade of casting continues with Scoot McNairy.
Season 3's story revolves, according to the official synopsis, around "a macabre crime in the heart of the Ozarks, and a mystery that deepens over decades and plays out in three separate time periods." Ali and Dorff are on to play Arkansas state investigators Wayne Hays and Roland West, respectively.
McNairy will be Tom, a father who suffers a terrible loss that ties his fate to those of the two officers across 10 years.
Series creator Nic Pizzolatto has written almost the entire season aside from the fourth, which saw him collaborating with David Milch. Pizzolatto will also direct several episodes, as will Green Room's Jeremy Saulnier. As for when it'll hit screens? There's no information on that yet.
