We're used to seeing Simon Pegg and Nick Frost team up in front of the camera, and now they're using their combined clout to also produce movies. The first out of the block from their Stolen Picture company is Slaughterhouse Rulez, and the trailer is online.
Slaughterhouse, which features the likes of Michael Sheen, Asa Butterfield, Finn Cole and Hermione Corfield, is set at the titular institution. It's an elite boarding school where boys and girls are groomed for power and greatness... And they’re about to meet their match. This ancient and ordered world is about to be shaken to its foundations – literally – when a controversial frack site on prized school woodland causes seismic tremors, a mysterious sinkhole, and an unspeakable horror to be unleashed. Soon a new pecking order will be established as the pupils and teachers alike become locked in a bloody battle for survival...
It's all a bit Buffy, with plenty of the spirit that infused Pegg and Frost's earlier days with films such as Shaun Of The Dead. And they show up in smaller roles, too.
Written by director Crispian Mills alongside Henry Fitzherbert, Slaughterhouse Rulez will be out, appropriately, on 31 October in the UK.
