It has been eight years since Nancy Meyers made a movie (that would be 2015's The Intern), but it appears she's coming back strong with big plans for a new film. Meyers has Scarlett Johansson, Penelope Cruz, Owen Wilson and Michael Fassbender circling the lead roles in a new, yet-to-be-officially-titled romantic comedy.

As first reported at Puck and since confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter the movie – which Meyers will write, direct and produce – is currently known as Paris Paramount and will follow a talented young writer/director who falls in love with a producer, with the pair ending up making several successful films before calling it quits romantically and professionally. The two are forced back together, however, when a great new project arises, and they find themselves teamed up again and having to deal with high stakes and volatile stars. å

There are some intriguing parallels with Meyers' own life, who worked with, and was married to, fellow filmmaker Charles Shyer.

This is one that Meyers has been looking to set up for a while now, with Jennifer Lawrence considering the lead.

And Netflix, even with its more recent concerns about cashflow is looking to spend around $130 million — $150 million. We can only imagine the houses and kitchens that sort of cash would ensure for the movie…
