Most actors want to direct at some point and pagesix.com is reporting that Scarlett Johansson is the next A-lister planning to move behind the camera. Now, pagesix is primarily a gossip site, so this should still be taken as rumour for now, but it sounds plausible.
According to the site, Johansson will direct a five minute segment in the Manhattan based follow up to Paris, Je T'aime, naturally known as New York, I Love You (why not I Love New York?). Following the same template as the Paris-based movie, this will feature twelve short films, each focused on a different area of New York. Already confirmed to direct are Anthony Minghella, Zach Braff, Mira Nair and Park Chan-Wook, among others. Woody Allen is also rumoured to be involved (it's New York, why would he not be?)
We imagine that Johansson might have more to offer directing-wise than your average twenty-something actress, but we'd prefer is she didn't go behind the lens full time. Because she's a good actress, not because she's, like, really really purdy or anything.
