David Hackl, director of Saw V and production designer on three of the other trap-heavy movies in the franchise, has landed a second directing gig on The Butcher Bride, a novel by Vince Churchill who we're guessing is no relation to Winston.

The book opens 30 years ago with a girl called Marlie, who's planned an elopement with the son of the wealthiest family in her town. But that night in the Silas mansion, where a Bacchanalian Halloween party is taking place, things go horribly wrong - and soon a vengeful ghost takes up residence in the house, acting out against all who cross its path.

The book is apparently full of sex as well as gore, but it remains to be seen how much of that will make it to the screen. Hackl (and with a name like that he really had to be a horror director) was attached to make Saw VII 3D before being moved for Kevin Gruetert to take over, but hopefully this will give him another chance to get his horror rocks off. J.R. Reher adapted the script.
