This new trailer cuts straight to the heart of the matter: the movie is looking to let you kill some time. And it’d be “knife” if you were ready to scream. Yes, the awful, groaning references to death and danger can mean only one thing: we’re in the presence of a new Saw film, in this case, the much-ballyhooed “final” outing (unless it makes a lot of money and someone at Lionsgate decides that the next one could be a reboot). You can take a look at the footage below.
Saw VII: 3D’s latest promo isn’t exactly big on plot, but then these movies have always kept their story details under cover until opening day (and in some of the lesser entries, where the explanations were rather confusing, not even then).
And if you thought that the Resident Evil: Afterlife trailers, with their constant mentioning of the James Cameron/Avatar camera connection and all the Piranha 3D chatter about the technology were pimping the audience experience, just wait. Because the Saw team have decided to go old school and show audiences interacting with the film in a way that no one has seen since William Castle shuffled off the mortal coil.
Of course, if anyone actually tried what is featured here, the lawsuits would flow like arterial blood. And it’s not exactly like they can replicate the 3D experience online (yet), but you’ve got to give them points for OTT showmanship.
Saw VII: 3D slices into our cinemas on October 29.
