Having evolved through the original Charles Addams cartoons in The New Yorker through live-action and animated TV series, a couple of movies and a musical, The Addams Family is now underway as a CG animated film. Conrad Vernon, who last brought us Sausage Party, is directing.
The new take on the scary family was announced back in 2013, with Corpse Bride writer Pamela Pettler hired to work on the script. It's since been through the keyboard of Matt Lieberman, and Vernon is overseeing animation in Vancouver.
Quite what the story will be hasn't been revealed, but it'll focus as usual characters including Gomez and Morticia, their children, Wednesday and Pugsley, wackier family members Uncle Fester and Grandmama, and their imposing butler Lurch. We're just hoping the team won't try to cram too many pop culture jokes into the story...
