The cameras are already rolling on Tom Hanks’ latest, A Hologram For The King, which reunites him with Cloud Atlas co-director Tom Tykwer. Five more cast members have been announced, with Tom Skerritt, David Menkin, Tracey Fairaway, Omar Elba and Homeland’s Sarita Choudhury nabbing roles.

Tykwer has adapted Dave Eggers’ 2012 book, which finds a struggling businessman (Hanks) realising he has pretty much failed in America when his home is threatened with foreclosure. Seeking a fresh start, he heads for a last chance in a growing Saudi Arabian city and hopes that if he’s able to pull off something memorable, he’ll re-launch his career and also help pay for his daughter’s college tuition.

With funding from several independent companies and Hanks on board to produce via his Playtone outfit, shooting is set to continue into June in Morocco and Germany until June. We’ll likely see the finished project hit the festival circuit later this year, especially since it was first announced at the last Toronto festival.
