The strange tale of gun heiress Sarah Winchester (whose family built the rifle business) will be brought to the screen by Andrew Lauren Productions, which has hired Peter J Tomasi to write a script.

Winchester moved to San Jose, California in 1884, and started building a house for herself. Sounds normal? The odd part is she didn’t stop for 38 years, ending up with 950 doors, 47 fireplaces, 40 bedrooms and 1,257 windows.

"Many believe that her obsession in building the 160-room mansion was likely based on spiritual advice or, more specifically, was given to her by spirits who died at gunpoint by a Winchester gun," Lauren told Variety. Either that, or all those house renovation shows are starting to leak back in time.
