With Garry Marshall making another of his holiday-themed ensemble comedy dramas, we are beginning to wonder whether he’s secretly building to some huge crossover event where the casts of Valentine’s Day, **New Year’s Eve **and now Mother’s Day must join forces to stave off the Apocalypse. Still, that’s for the future (and our warped imaginations), so for now, he’s simply added Sarah Chalke to **Mother’s Day.
The actress, best known for US comedy Scrubs, is joining a cast that already incudes Julia Roberts, Jennifer Aniston, Kate Hudson, Jason Sudeikis, Timothy Olyphant, Margo Martindale, Shay Mitchell, Britt Robertson, Jack Whitehall, Aasif Mandvi, Ella Anderson and Loni Love. She’ll be Gabi, who is figuring out how to raise her son with partner Max (Cameron Esposito).
In keeping with the other movies, it’ll be another anthology pack of stories about people dealing with the titular holiday and life in general. Tom Hines, Lily Hollander and Anya Kochoff have combined their forces to write this one, with Marshall rolling the cameras now in Atlanta. The film will be out in the States on April 29 next year, all the better to get out ahead of the actual US holiday date, which is May 8 in 2016. There’s no sign yet on a UK release.
