Cheech Marin to helm Spanish Dracula

For anyone even vaguely wondering who he is (And you should really be ashamed), Cheech Marin is remembered primarily as one half of the iconic stoner duo Cheech and Chong, occasionally spotted these days being killed and/or touting sexual services in Robert Rodriguez pictures. Fans of dodgy television will also remember him as being the best thing in Don Johnson cop show Nash Bridges, but that's another story. Anyway, Marin is taking his first jaunt behind the camera since 1987, directing a Spanish take on a famous legend with Senor Dracula. Rather than a curiously camp interpretation of the legend with a moustached count playing the guitar and boasting a deep Mediterranean tan despite his aversion to sunlight, Senor Dracula is a film about the Spanish-language version of the 1931 horror classic. Shot at the same studio as the Bela Lugosi film - at the same time and on the same sets - the Spanish Dracula told the same tale but, yes you guessed it, in an entirely different language. Marin's film will recount the tale of this production double-bill with the emphasis on a romance between an American actor and a Spanish actress.
