There was much cause for celebration earlier this month when Disney-Pixar announced that the Emeryville team, led by writer-director Brad Bird, were developing a long-demanded sequel to superhero adventure The Incredibles. Among the favourite characters to pop up in the movie is fellow “Super” Frozone, voiced by Samuel L. Jackson, who believes he’ll be back for the sequel.
Out and about on the **Captain America: The Winter Soldier **press tour, Jackson was asked about the likelihood that the freeze-capable hero (real name Lucius Best) would show up for another adventure.
"Every time I run into Brad, he always tells me Frozone is part of what's going on, so I have to believe that," he tells Digital Spy. "I guess they could be the Incredibles without Frozone, but I think Frozone would be a wonderful addition to what's already there."
We certainly agree – not only did Frozone help save the day in the end, but his super suit scene also formed one of the funnier beats of the film. And who would say no to Samuel L. Jackson?
There’s no release information for the new film yet: after all, Pixar has a slate ahead of it, and Bird needs time to finish his latest live action film, Tomorrowland, before diving back into the animated world. Captain America: The Winter Soldier, meanwhile, is out now.
