You would think that having the likes of Margot Robbie, Brad Pitt and Katherine Waterston aboard your film would be enough for a director. But La La Land's Damien Chazelle isn't stopping there. Far from it... For his latest film, Babylon, he's also adding Samara Weaving, Max Minghella, Flea and more.

Babylon's story is mostly being kept under wraps at this stage, though we have learned that it's a drama set in a transitional period for Hollywood as silent moviemaking gave way to the talkies, and will blend real personalities from the time with fictional characters.

Rory Scovel, Lukas Haas, Eric Roberts, PJ Byrne and Damon Gupton are also among the new recruits for the film, which already boasts Diego Calva, Jovan Adepo and Li Jun Li, the latter recruited to play Anna Wong, famous as the first Asian-American movie star.

Chazelle wrote the script and is preparing to shoot the film, with Paramount targeting a Christmas Day 2022 awards-qualifying release across the pond, with a wider Stateside date set for 6 January 2023, which is also when the UK is scheduled to see the movie.
