A little less than a year ago, we reported on Gerard Butler agreeing to star in the long-developing heist thriller Den Of Thieves. It’s taken some time, but the film should finally be shooting this year as The Wrap reports that Sam Worthington is on board to co-star.
Writer/director Christian Gudegast originally co-wrote the script with Paul Scheuring back in 1998 and watched it tumble through a void of meetings, drafts and decisions. At one point, Peter Berg appeared set to direct it, but moved on to other things. Then, in 2008, Gudegast was handed the chance to call the shots himself.
Butler, who is also an executive producer, is playing the thief figuring out his most audacious robbery yet, taking down the Federal Reserve in Los Angeles under the nose of a corrupt sheriff’s deputy. The plan becomes even more complicated when he’s caught between two groups of criminals.
Worthington, last seen in Kidnapping Freddy Heineken, is part of the cast for Everest, due September 25 and action thriller Hunter’s Prayer, which is still awaiting a release slot.
