For the last couple of years, it’s seemed like every new blockbuster would end up starring Clash of the Titans’ Sam Worthington – his name got thrown around when any role cropped up (we think they finally drew the line at suggesting him for Snarf in any new Thundercats project). But now he’s pinged the possibility radar once more, as he’s attached to an untitled script that Warner Bros. has just bought from writer Aaron Guzikowski.

According to Deadline, the plot is being kept a secret for now, though the information that has leaked points to it being about “a grounded space war.” Which sounds odd to us – shouldn’t a space war take place in, you know, space? Still, you’ve got to figure the description points more towards the story being gritty and realistic as opposed to, say the space opera of Star Wars.

And let’s not forget that Worthington was rumoured last year to be taking up the space suit of famed Eagle Comics character Dan Dare, and that Warners had the rights to it. Could we be seeing the birth of a new Dare project here?

Either way, Clash producer Basil Iwanyk is spearheading the new script, and Guzikowski is the writer behind drug thriller remake Contraband and hot script Prisoners, which has been building steam, even if it hasn’t locked in a cast yet. It remains to be seen if this new project takes off, or ends up consigned to the drawer marked Nice Try...
