Sam Worthington Clashes With The Titan

With Mel Gibson's Hacksaw Ridge and no fewer than three Avatar sequels in his near future, Sam Worthington is still adding projects to his roster. The latest is The Titan, a sci-fi adventure from first-time director Lennart Ruff and screenwriter Max Hurwitz. Luther's Ruth Wilson will co-star, along with Sofia Boutella (Kingsman, Star Trek Beyond).

For Worthington, of course, there's a whiff of the familiar about that title. But nothing will clash or wrath this time, and no krakens will be released. This one's about a military family participating in a revolutionary experiment about genetic evolution in space.

Voltage Pictures (The Hurt Locker) are behind the film, which they'll be hawking at TIFF next month. Brian Kavanaugh-Jones (Sinister), Rory Aitken and Ben Pugh (Welcome To The Punch), and Arash Amel (Grace Of Monaco) are producing. Amel also came up with the pitch that Hurwitz based the screenplay on.

Shooting on The Titan will start in Europe in January. We'll next see Worthington in Baltasar Kormakur's Everest, which is out in the UK on September 18.
