When they were out and about pimping their directorial debut, coming-of-age comedy The Way Way Back, Jim Rash and Nat Faxon talked about how much they wanted to work with the cast again. They’re putting their money where their mouths were for their next film, The Heart, as Sam Rockwell and Allison Janney are in talks.
Kristen Wiig is at the – no pun intended – heart of the action comedy, which Faxon and Rash have been developing for a while around her. She’s starring as a cash-strapped woman who sees a chance to score big bucks by transporting black market organs alongside a man she just met (Rockwell).
As for Janney, who may or may not be able to sign on depending on scheduling issues, she would be Wiig’s intimidating boss, a woman who keeps two boyfriends around. Faxon and Rash, who wrote the script, are gearing up to start shooting their second film in May in North Carolina.
Rockwell recently worked on the Poltergeist reboot, which arrives here on February 13 next year. Before that, he should be cropping up in Lynn Shelton’s Laggies. Janney has been busy on US sitcom Mom, and has Melissa McCarthy’s new comedy Tammy, headed here on July 4.
