New romance novel adaptation klaxon! Another Cecelia Ahern book is coming to the big screen, with Pirates man Sam Claflin and Mirror Mirror’s Lily Collins in the lead roles for Love, Rosie.

Sounding a little like the concept for One Day (though the book was written back in 1990 as Love, Rosie and re-published in 2004 as Where Rainbows End), Love, Rosie follows the heroine as she plans to attend university in the States with her best pal (Claflin).

But a spanner is well and truly thrown in the works when she discovers she’s pregnant after spending the night with one of the most popular boys in school. The tale unfolds across the 12 years after the event, with the friends staying connected through letters and emails even as their lives diverge. As they wonder if they’re meant for each other, fate has a plan for them both…

This will mark the second Ahern book to make its way to screens following 2007’s PS I Love You, and has Christian Ditter on board to direct from Juliette Towhidi’s script. The cameras should be cranking in May.

Collins will be seen this year learning to fight demons in the film adaptation of young adult bestseller The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bone, while Claflin is playing Finnick Odair in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, which lands here on November 22. These two do have similar careers so far, it seems: perhaps fate does want them to work together...
