The third instalment in the Magic Mike film series has only just started shooting, but a change is happening among the cast. Thandiwe Newton, who was playing one of the lead roles, is stepping away to deal with a personal situation, and Salma Hayekis being brought in to replace her.

"Thandiwe Newton has made the difficult decision to step away from the production of Warner Bros. Pictures’ Magic Mike’s Last Dance to deal with family matters," a spokesperson for the studio told Variety on Wednesday.

With Channing Tatum in the lead, Magic Mike's Last Dance has Reid Carolin (the actor's producing, writing and, thanks to Dog directorial partner) once more on script duty, and Steven Soderbergh back directing after sitting out the second film.

The cameras are rolling now in the UK, and, as the title suggests, the film is expected to end the Mike movie series. And the female lead character will play a vital role in the movie. In the States, at least, Magic Mike's Last Dance will premiere on HBO Max, which means we can predict it'll go directly to download in the UK.
