Wade Wilson might not be thrilled, but Ryan Reynolds has found another film that will keep him out of the Deadpool mask a while longer. He's now made a deal to star in and produce action comedy Shotgun Wedding.
Pitch Perfect director Jason Moore will work from a script originated by Mark Hammer and to be polished by Liz Meriwether, which sees a couple face a trickier issue at their destination wedding than just having the caterer quit. The location is taken over by armed criminals, and as they work together to save their families and other guests, they rediscover why they fell in love and wanted to get hitched in the first place.
"I haven’t done a romantic comedy since The Proposal but I just fell in love with Shotgun Wedding,” said Reynolds. "It’s so refreshing and surprising. I can’t wait to bring it to life with Jason, Todd, Dave and the great team at Lionsgate." He'll work again with the team who produced The Hitman's Bodyguard, but hopefully that won't put anyone off, and that one is headed down the sequel route regardless.
Shotgun Wedding should be filming this summer. Reynolds has a couple of films out this year, with Detective Pikachu landing on 10 May and Michael Bay's action thriller 6 Underground still to announce a release date.
