It should surprise absolutely no one that 20th Century Fox has been quick to order a sequel to one of this year's biggest hits, Deadpool. And while negotiations about the follow-up have been underway since the original started raking in money, now the studio has confirmed that Ryan Reynolds, writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick and director Tim Miller will all return.

Taking the stage at CinemaCon, studio co-chairman Stacey Snider was happy to announce that Reynolds and the gang have reunited to work on the new movie, and news that Miller will once more be in the director's chair is reassuring. Of course, now they have to make something that lives up to the lunatic fun of that first outing and makes good on the promise made at, er, the end of the movie. It'll help that they probably won't have to struggle through 11 years of development hell this time.

It's not yet known when we might see the new film, or whether Fox will lavish a bigger budget (though Reese and Wernick in particular have said they don't want some giant cash infusion, because Deadpool should be on a smaller scale), and nothing has been announced about story or new characters. We had some suggestions for villains, so go and check that feature out here.
