Anyone wondering how Ryan Reynolds is going to acquit himself as Green Lantern will probably learn nothing at all by checking out the trailer for **Paper Man. But it does look rather sweet.
The indie dramedy, which has been doing the festival rounds for a while, stars Jeff Daniels as a washed-up writer, Lisa Kudrow as his wife, and Emma Stone as the 17-year-old with whom Daniels strikes up an usual friendship.
Oh, and then there's Reynolds, as the superhero Captain Excellent. The Cap is Daniels' imaginary friend, which gives him something in common with Stone, who also has a fantasy mate in the form of Kieran Culkin.
It all sounds superficially a bit like Drop Dead Fred, but that comparison doesn't hold up in the face of the clip, which has more of a You and Me and Everyone We Know vibe to it. Sort of. With maybe some Leon. But without the killing.
Paper Man gets a limited release in the states on April 23rd, and was written and directed by husband-and-wife team Kieran (Dermot's younger brother) and Michelle Mulroney. The Mulroneys' next gig is the screenplay for Sherlock Holmes 2. Reynolds has his hands full with Green Lantern and, possibly, TMI. We've not heard much about Deadpool lately...
