Ryan Gosling rarely stays off our screens for very long, does he? If you'd been wondering what the La La Land star had been up to since his turn as Neil Armstrong in Damien Chazelle's First Man in 2018, there's nothing to worry about: the actor has indeed been doing some acting. Literally.
The Actor will see Gosling play, that's right, an actor named Paul Cole who becomes stranded in Ohio in the 1950s, after being brutally attacked. The film then follows Paul trying to return back to his life in New York while suffering from severe amnesia. The film is based on Donald E. Westlake's best-selling noir novel Memory, and will be directed by Anomalisa director Duke Johnson.
Charlie Kaufman, the masterful indie director who penned the script for Anomalisa and recently melted minds with I'm Thinking Of Ending Things will also be on board as an executive producer – and Gosling will be too. The prospect of a big, brooding performance in a film noir brings Gosling's performance in Drive to mind, which can only be a good thing.
Deadline reports that the film will be released by Neon, the arthouse distributor who released none other than Bong Joon-ho's Parasite. If it was good enough for the #BongHive it should do very nicely for Gosling – stay tuned for further cast updates and a release date for this one.
