You might think that Atomic Blonde and Hobbs & Shaw director David Leitch would have enough to keep him busy, what with Brad Pitt attached to his next film, and other movies in the works. Nope! He's adding another, this time an untitled drama about a stuntman, which will star Ryan Gosling.
Universal has picked up the deal for the film, which includes the scripting services of Iron Man 3 and Hobbs co-writer Drew Pearce. Quite what it'll be about beyond "stuntman action drama" remains to be seen, but there's clearly interest in the idea, partly sparked by the aforementioned Pitt playing Cliff Booth in Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.
And this would be the third time Gosling starred as a stunt expert, having played one in Drive and The Place Beyond The Pines. Quite what makes Leitch thinks he can make a film about stuntmen remains to be seen, except for (checks notes)... his long career as a stuntman and stunt co-ordinator, experience as a 2nd Unit director and his work on the likes of the original Matrix trilogy, *John Wick* and more, bringing some of the best action sequences in recent memory to screens.
As for Gosling, he's next planning to star opposite Chris Evans in the Russo brothers' The Gray Man and is attached to Phil Lord and Chris Miller's adaptation of Andy Weir's story about an astronaut who must save the Earth.
