It's been a while since we've heard much about Room director Lenny Abrahamson's next project, an adaptation of Sarah Waters' The Little Stranger. At last we have an update, with news that Ruth Wilson is joining the cast.

Abrahamson already plans to reunite with Frank's Domhnall Gleeson for the story, which Lucinda Coxon has scripted based on Waters' gothic tale. Gleeson will play a doctor in post-World War II Britain who goes back to the crumbling great house of Hundreds Hall, where his mother once worked as a maid. Now, as the owners of the place struggle to pay the taxes, they're also being haunted by a terrifying poltergeist with ties to the family.

The doctor becomes obsessed with marrying the older daughter (Wilson) and bad things, as you might be able to figure out given the supernatural and cultural issues, start to happen. Abrahamson should be shooting this year.

Wilson has a few films on the way, including How To Talk To Girls At Parties and Dark River, and has also just agreed to play her own grandmother, Alice Wilson, in a new BBC drama called The Wilsons.
